LEARN MORE

This sweet, tart and fresh grapefruit is transformed into a luxurious treat with a topping of caramelized sugar and salty, roasted pistachios for an enticing addition to any brunch or breakfast. The notes of fresh melon and tropical fruit in Watermelon Shandy complement the grapefruit, without being too similar.

Topics:
Appetizers, Brunch, Fruit

INGREDIENTS

3 grapefruits

6 tablespoons brown sugar

6 tablespoons roasted and salted pistachios, chopped

PREPARATION

STEP 1

Slice each grapefruit in half crosswise. If necessary, cut a small sliver off the bottoms of the halves to make them stand upright. Using a small knife, cut around the peel of the grapefruit to loosen the grapefruit from the peel. Then cut carefully between each membrane to loosen the segments.

STEP 2

Place grapefruit halves on a baking sheet and top each one with a tablespoon of brown sugar. Place under the broiler until sugar is melted and bubbling, about 3 to 5 minutes.

STEP 3

Transfer grapefruit halves to serving bowls and top each one with a tablespoon of pistachios. Serve.
